Avoid Antidepressant Side Effects

TMS Therapy

Many of the most common antidepressants carry a risk of unpleasant side effects. These include:

  • Nausea,
  • Dizziness,
  • Constipation,
  • Anxiety or restlessness,
  • Blurred vision,
  • Weight gain,
  • Decreased libido,
  • Fatigue, and
  • Insomnia.

There are plenty of coping strategies to minimize these side effects, and thankfully, most people don’t experience all of them. However, for a small portion of the population, the side effects caused by antidepressants are severe and disruptive to daily life.

A promising solution for these individuals is TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), a non-surgical, non-systemic therapy that targets the brain directly. If you’re suffering from severe side effects from your antidepressant medication, contact us at the Sutton Place TMS center to learn more about how to manage your depression symptoms without sacrificing your well-being in other areas of your life.

An Alternative to Antidepressants

TMS therapy for PTSD, PPD, anxiety and more

TMS Therapy

Depression is an illness that affects more than 14 million adults in the United States. Since each individual is unique, medication will not always help alleviate the burden of depression. Additionally, a medication’s side effects can have a negative impact on the body.

An alternative to medication, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy is a noninvasive procedure that uses magnetic fields to activate brain cells in the prefrontal cortex. As the magnetic fields move into the brain, they produce small electrical currents that activate cells which are then thought to release neurotransmitters.

Fibromyalgia can be a painful and debilitating illness, often presenting with co-morbid depression / other mood disorders. The below video is CBS News medical journalist, Dr. Max Gomez, interview with Dr. Alan Manevitz, MD, and Dr. James Halper on the research and clinical experience of TMS in the treatment of fibromyalgia. The following video features the interviews with each of the doctors and fibromyalgia sufferer Jeffrey and his relief of symptoms through TMS Therapy treatments.
